Fall Festival Fun!
October is the time of year that we pull out our hoodies, boots, and cozy jackets to gear up for cooler temperatures and falling leaves. In North Georgia, October also means it’s apple season! Nathan Fitts & Team has several real estate listings in and around beautiful Ellijay, the Apple Capital of Georgia! In fact, Ellijay produces over 600,000 bushels of apples a year and features more than 30 varieties of delicious and nutritious apples. You can find a multitude of apple retailers that offer U-Pick experiences, fried apple pies, apple cider, and various other apple-centric products.
On the second and third weekends in October, the biggest celebration in North Georgia takes place at the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds near downtown Ellijay. The Georgia Apple Festival is celebrating 47 years of apple fun and you can experience it all on October 13th & 14th and on October 20th & 21st. This family-friendly event features over 300 vendors showcasing their arts, crafts, delicious food, and of course apples! Admission is $5 per person and children under 10 are free. Parking is plentiful with only a request to donate to the local school groups or civic clubs.
On the weekend of October 13th, the festival is open from 9am-6pm on Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday. Just down the road on Saturday, October 13th at the Civic Center, you’ll find the Apple Classic Auto show featuring antique cars and in downtown Ellijay, a mini version of the Apple Festival takes place around the Square. On the weekend of October 20th, the festival is open from 9am-6pm on Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday. The Apple Festival parade will roll through town at 10 am on Saturday, October 20th which is always big fun for every member of the family!
