Blue Ridge Community Theater

Rhythm & Shows

Not only do you get to experience the beauty of the mountains when you live in Blue Ridge, but you also get to immerse yourself in the culture of the area. While there are plenty of good eats and quaint shops dotted along Main Street in downtown Blue Ridge, just off the strip is a cozy community theater that offers quality productions, live music, and a robust children’s program.

Blue Ridge Community Theater has been operating in our quaint town since 2000. Located across the street from the Swan Drive-In at 2591 East First Street, the Theater is easily accessible and has plenty of parking available. Countless volunteer hours go to annually producing seven main stage productions and more than 80 performances.

This summer you can enjoy Mainstage Productions including Boeing Boeing, a high flying farce that tells the story of a bachelor pilot that’s engaged to three stewardess from different countries. An old friend comes to visit and now all three ladies show up at the same place at the same time! The show plays Thursday – Sundays until June 2nd.

In July, A Funny Little Thing Called Love will hit the stage from July 11th through July 28th. You will laugh until you cry watch these four love stories unfold. From a used car salesman with his three juliets in Texas to a group of fun-loving gals from Georgia on a Hawaiian Vacation. You won’t believe what happens at a rooftop Bistro in London when two strangers meet, but have to contend with a nosey American tourist or the adventures a Manhattan man battling a mid-life crisis about to make an ill advised proposal. So, open your heart to romantic mayhem and come join the fun!

All summer long the Blue Ridge Community Theater also features their Live Music is Better events. On June 7th the Bergonzi String Quartet will be performing An American Story. This show is FREE and part of the Blue Ridge Chamber Music Festival. On June 29th The Crossroads Band will be bringing their bluesy tunes to the stage and On August 3rd, Fred Johnson will bring you an outstanding jazz performance!

Have kiddos? The Sunny D Children’s program is a production camp. Children will spend two weeks learning various theater techniques such as stage language, theater dance, projection, expression, and cooperation. At the completion of the camp the students will perform on stage.
