Bringing the Light to Blue Ridge

red christmas ball decor Come one, come all and help us light up Blue Ridge! As we dive into the holiday season, store windows are getting decorated, Christmas tress are being put up, and excitement for the season is building. We, at Nathan Fitts & Team love everything about the holiday season and have already begun spreading cheer everywhere we go! In fact, we are donation drop off location for our local Toys for Tots program. While many of us are fortunate to be surrounded by a loving family, in a home that keeps us warm or cool, and a stocked pantry to prepare and enjoy meals, not everyone has that luxury and the ones that suffer the most are the children. During the holiday season, the Toys for Tots program ensures that each and every child in need, will receive a toy. We, at Nathan Fitts & Team, believe in this mission whole heartedly and are proudly accepting unwrapped toy and monetary donations at our office located at 3354 East First Street in Blue Ridge. In our beloved town of Blue Ridge, the holiday festivities begin on Thanksgiving morning with the annual Turkey Trot in downtown Blue Ridge. After you run this 5k, you won’t feel guilty about digging into that turkey and having an extra piece of pumpkin pie! Once that tryptophan kicks in, sleep like a baby because there is more fun to be had on Black Friday! After you hit all the adorable downtown stores and you’ve officially shopped until you dropped, run home and take a little nap, because we still have to paint the town Blue! Blue Friday in downtown Blue Ridge kicks off at 6pm with community Christmas Caroling. We are all going to meet at 6pm in front of Frist Baptist Church located at 907 East Main Street. Bundle up and bring a flashlight. You’ve never felt community until you’ve experienced singing your favorite Christmas songs with your neighbors and friends. Saturday morning, Light Up Blue Ridge begins with Santa riding in on the Blue Ridge train at 11:15am and you can get your picture with the jolly ol elf himself from 12:30pm to 4:30pm. Many performances will take place during the day leading up to the Christmas parade at 5:30pm. As the evening comes to a conclusion the lighting of the Great Tree will take place at 7pm while 2016 Miss America winner, Betty Cantrell sings “O Holy Night”! This year an amazing new property just opened up in Blue Ridge and you need to check it out! INOLA Blue Ridge is a colonial style village that was built in the 1980’s and includes the Wythe Estate, Wetherburn’s Tavern, and a Virginia chapel from the 1700s. They are opening up their doors this holiday season for a whole lot of holiday cheer every day from 12pm – 10pm beginning November 29th through January 5th. Here you can enjoy visiting with Santa & Mrs. Claus, take Carriage Rides, go Ice Skating, and enjoy the illuminated maze & Christmas lights!
