Rich with Native American roots and abundant wildlife, Fightingtown Creek rises 2,000 feet above elevation and runs from the Eastern slopes of the Cohuttas in the Chattahoochee National Forest in Gilmer County through Northwest Blue Ridge to McCaysville before it joins with the Toccoa River in Georgia and the Ocoee River in Tennessee. There is some debate on the origin of the name, but regardless of the area being named after warring tribal leaders or frogs with an attitude, there is no dispute about the beauty of the land that surrounds this lively brook!
